Facts at a Glance:
Trends in Gangs in the US:
In 1996, 53% of the respondents to the National Youth Gang Survey reported active gangs in their jurisdictions, but by 2000, the percent reporting active gangs dropped to 40%.
It is estimated that more than 24,500 gangs were active in the U.S. in:
2000, which is a drop of 5% from the number estimated to be active in 1999. Despite this overall decrease in the number of gangs, cities with population over 25,000 reported a very slight increase in the number of active gangs from 1999.
It is estimated that 772,500 people in the U.S. were members of gangs in 2000, a drop of 8% from the number of active members in 1999, but again, cities with population over 25,000 experienced an increase in the number of active gang members despite the overall drop.
91% of cities with population over 250,000, 64% of cities with population between 100,000 and 250,000, 55% of cities with population between 50,000 and 100,000, and 32% of cities with population between 25,000 and 50,000 reported at least one homicide from 1999 to 2000 that was attributed to gang violence. In these cities, 47% said that the number of gang- related homicides had increased in their jurisdiction from 1999 to 2000.
It is estimated that 94% of gang members were male and 6% were female in 2000.
It is estimated that 39% of gangs active in 2000 had at least one female member; 2% of gangs were identified as being composed of predominantly female members.
In 1996, 50% of gang members were under the age of 18, but in 1999 only 37% of gang members were estimated to be under the age of 18.
In 1999 it is estimated that 47% of gang members were Hispanic, 31% were African American, 13% were white, and 7% were Asian. These percentages seem to remain fairly steady over the years.

We have heard the media saying "Mexico" is dangerous, don't go. But the truth is that the danger they refer at, is far away from Rocky Point.
Check the following chart:
-----------Cd Juarez------Tijuana------San Diego-----Los Angeles-----Phoenix----RP
Population 1,313,338 -----1,286,187----2,933,462-----3,833,995-----4,039,182--45,000
State/Country Chih/Mex ------BC/Mex---- CA/USA-------CA/USA------AZ/USA--SO/MX
density ------5130/sqmt---1212/sq mt--1456/sq mt----3156/sq mt---1153/sqmt--4.5
km far from RP-- 1193 -------------535---------548-----------749-------------346-----------
hrs driving from RP --14 -------------6-----------6--------------8---------------3------------
As you can see... 14 hours driving distance from the "red spot" is far far away...
Here in this paradise, there is no danger at all. But... Keep the secret!!!

How to plan a trip to Rocky Point
Step 1
Contact your local travel agency and find out what documents you need to cross the Mexican border. Start applying for the documents months ahead of time. Passports are the best way to prove U.S. residency, but it can take several weeks to receive them. Under 16, can avoid the use of the passport with only having the birth certificate.
- Step 2
Decide if you want to drive or fly to Rocky Point. The city is 170 miles south of Tucson so it is not a long or difficult drive if you don't mind taking your car over the Mexican border. if you decide to fly you can book a charter flight or you can fly your own small plane and land at the nearby airstrip.
- Step 3
Book a hotel or condo ( we recommend www.rockypointreservations.com) with enough time.
- Step 4
Check my website www.ourrockypointrealtor.com to check if there is any events coming on the dates you will be here.
- Step 5
Reserve your activities before arriving if you are visiting during high season. You don't want to be left in the parking lot with all the Jet Skis and fishing tours sold out.
- Step 6
Pack adapters for some electronics. Although wattage may be the same, adapters are needed for plugs that have an enlarged end on one prong or plugs with three prongs.
- Step 7
Cross the border with plenty of time and gas. Depending on the season or holiday it may take hours to cross the border.
- Buy Mexican insurance for your car before crossing the border. Most insurance policies do not cover your car while in Mexico.
- Rental companies do not usually allow drivers to take cars over the border.
- Most of the drinking water in Rocky Point proper will be fine, but when going out of the city remember your bottled water. Beware of the water if you are not from the zone!
- Be conscientious about following the laws and rules while visiting. Mexican jails have a tough reputation for a reason.
- Do not take part in any activity that can be construed as political or against the government or police. It is against Mexican law for foreigners to interfere or participate in these types of activities.
Feel free to call me if you want to check the great opportunities in Real Estate I have for you.
